EXPLAINING DIFFERENCE : MODEM VS . ROUTER

Basically you need a Modem to transfer the Internet into your home and / or office - it demodulates the Analog signals from internet to your Computers which only understand Digital signals - Any data signals from PC back out to Internet will be digital which the Modem demodulate back to Analog

The Modem will keep a steady connection from the internet to your PC

Routers with switches and multiple ports will route transfer from Modem to all your devices such as wired ( using RJ-45 Cable ) in Desktop PCs - wireless laptops - tablets

There are 2 main modem types - there are Cable and DSL , the Cable modem using a coaxial cable (same as TV) DSL Modems use a Phone line
